Down To The Bone – Get Up And Dance

Grammy award-nominated soul-Jazz groovers Down To The Bone link up with UK soul vocalist Hil St Soul on new track Get Up And Dance, ahead of their new album ‘This Way Forward’ in June. An invitation to get on the dance floor, this is DTTB at their most party-ready, with Hil St Soul’s immaculate vocal performance injecting uplifting, soulful energy into this groove led, jazz funk anthem.

Down To The Bone’s Stuart Wade has featured UK soul vocalist Hil St Soul on the band’s albums no fewer than five times since she made her first appearance with “My One and All” in 2002. And now she’s back with “Get Up And Dance”, the opening track from the band’s June 5 album This Way Forward.

As the title suggests, it’s an invitation to get on the dance floor and party with the UK’s leading soul-jazz groove band. Hil, who began her music career with the groundbreaking Dome album Soul Organic – a huge success at US jazz radio thanks to her perennially popular acoustic version of the Stevie Wonder song “Until You Come Back To Me” – “always makes the process easy when I have an instrumental track that I know needs a vocal – she just comes up with the perfect song to complement the music every time”, says Stuart, who co-wrote “Get Up And Dance” with Hil and bass player Jo Phillpotts

The Grammy-nominated Down To The Bone went to #2 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart with their debut album From Manhattan To Staten and they are still going strong a quarter of a century later. The upcoming new album features 10 tracks with a diversity of flavours from jazz funk and soul to Brazilian.
